Training your pet can be trying and a learning experience for you as well. The initial part of puppy training is the hardest, after that passes it gets easier. Once you have trained your dog to obey your commands you will be less likely to have to worry about him taking off on you and meeting with an accident. After getting past the initial hurdle of dog obedience training, you will be able to relax and really enjoy the time you have with your dog. It can be a bit stressful to complete the initial phase of dog training no matter how long it takes. This is the main reason that it is critical to ensure that you have all of the necessary assistance.
Even though it may be frustrating and seem like a never ending process, housebreaking a dog and training it in commands is just one of those things you have to do. If you give up on the training you will find that there could be a lot of serious consequences to face such as: destroyed furniture, accidents all over the house, aggressive behavior as well as biting.
To avoid these and other consequences, and to make sure you are giving your dog the best ability to have a happy, well-behaved life then it is important to maintain a strict parental relationship with your pet. Dog training is the process of teaching a dog right from wrong. Unfortunately there are people who think that dogs instinctively know right from wrong, but this is false. Since dogs follow their instincts, it is up to the owners to enact their dog training. The dog does not instinctively know the human rules about being allowed on furniture in a home.
It is up to owners to teach dogs the way everything works and not vice versa. Your dog lives to make you happy you need only to show him how as he will be pressed to figure it out for himself. Dog training will condition your dog to do what you want it to do and teach him not to do what you do not want. It also shows your dog how to get little additional treats along with your love every once in a while.
Some sources for dog training advice include:
* Classes
* Training Book
* Instructional DVD
* Magazine
Although there are a lot of wonderful dog training classes out there that will teach you about housebreaking and dog biting, it is important to know that these classes are mostly for information. Miracles will not be performed during these classes. The real work will take place once you are at home with your dog. Everything that you pick up from the dog training classes has to be enforced at home as this is where the magic will happen.
Books, videos, DVDs, magazines, and anything else that you can possibly get your hands on will help you with the dog training process. Make sure that you are taking in all of the advice and putting it to good use. Depending on the breed of your dog, you could be looking at anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months of dedicated dog training. Stick with it and never slack off and the dog training will pay off in no time at all.
