The Different Kinds Of Suit Styles

by Victor R. Santerino

The different kinds of men's suits are actually quite simple to understand. A very important aspect to note here is that there are four main kinds of suit designs. As soon as you comprehend the four fundamental designs, you will soon understand that practically every other suit you come across, whether in the celebrity section or in fashion shows, can all be classified under any one of them.

The four different designs happen to be American, Italian, British and Oriental that is from the east. Anything else has been drawn from one of them, modified very little by employing a change in the shirt or other attachments that go with it.

The American style of suit, almost two centuries old has a double buttoned jacket with normal lapels and straight trousers that extend up to shoe line. It can be used anywhere and on any occasion.

The Italian suit is the most talked about in fashion world as most of the best suit designers are known to come from Italy. It usually consists of a double breasted jacket having small pockets. Each shoulder is provided with slight padding while pleats with cuffs are regular feature of pants.

British suits happen to be more formal in design, and are ideal for business purposes. They too have buttons and pockets with the added shoulder padding. Popular designs of British suit are the pin stripe. Pants normally flaunt one or two pleats and a minute cuff.

The Oriental style hails, quite obviously from the far east. The collar is very short and stays vertical. Buttoned from the bottom of the flap right to the neck, the jacket is usually worn closed. The addition of a particularly eastern shirt is the usual practice and there is no tie.

All the above style of suits are easily available anywhere in the world. You can experiment by using different shirt combinations, tie, pocket square and even shoes to give them a different look.

Which one of these four designs you select will entirely depend on your personal choice. Especially, the occasion for which you shall be wearing your suit does matter a lot whether it is business or social, to cite an example. Also, your personality and physical contours will decide as to how each suit style is going to look on you.
