People who suffer from acne as well as people who treat it, all agree that treating acne is tough. The main reasons are the individuality of the sufferer, the wide variety or treatments and the individual's response to the treatments. Every person's acne is unique to that person. The cause and cares vary from one case to another. Some may be due to genetics, or the lifestyle, allergies, hygiene and the list goes on. The oil gets trapped in the pores on the skin, and turns it into a breeding ground for acne bacteria. The body will then naturally fight the infection, resulting in an inflamed spot. The first step to cure acne is to cleanse the affected area thoroughly. Use a mild antibacterial cleanser to kill the bacteria and remove excess sebum from the skin. It should cleanse the skin, but also not over dry it. How often you should wash your face depends on how oily your skin is.
There are plenty of medications available and most contain a certain amount of benzoyl peroxide and/or salicylic acid. Although effective, you should use these with care. Too high an amount will be damaging to your skin. Microdermabrasion treatments are also effective and quite popular too.
Acne scars can result from severe or untreated acne. Prevention is the best policy, so never pick or burst pimples or ignore acne breakouts. Acne scar treatments can consist of some form of medication, laser or filling techniques. Laser treatments can also be customized for different cased and are combined with medications.
