Being advertised more heavily on the internet lately is a colon cleanser called Purity 12. I had seen advertisements similar to these ones before and thought I'd look into it a little deeper. This review of Purity 12 will try to give you a better idea of what you might expect from this colon cleanser. First I'll look at the ingredients that make up the product and then turn my focus to the company that's behind the product.
The ingredients in Purity 12 aren't necessarily bad, they just aren't many of your common ingredients found in other colon cleansers. Purity 12 contains many ingredients that look as though they came off a diet pill's label. And while colon cleansers and diet pills may have similar goals, they do different things. Purity 12 states that it's a more "gentle" formula, but at this point, I'm not totally convinced it's really going to be effective at cleaning out your colon.
The Better Business Bureau gave Purity 12 an F rating. The complaints that had been filed with the BBB were mostly concerning billing and collection problems. Of the 10 complaints that were filed, all 10 had been reported as resolved. This is a good sign, but the fact that the BBB still has them with an F rating is certainly cause for concern. Almost any time a company is given an F, you can count that as a pretty good indication of the type of business they are running.
Purity 12 offers only one option to buy the product, and that is to get their 30 day sample. At first glance it appears that you only pay for shipping for the 30 day supply but in reality, you are also automatically enrolled in their autoship. This means that you don't call and cancel your membership within 15 days of ordering the sample, they will charge you $74.95 for that sample and every 30 days thereafter they will ship you another supply and charge you the same $74.95 plus shipping. All this is explained in the fine print that nobody is probably reading. Hence the complaints about their billing and sales issues.
The red flags don't stop there. Their privacy policy isn't very consumer friendly either. Their fine print states that they have the right to sell your personal information to anyone they desire and there's basically not much that you can do about it. So if you do enter your information, get ready to start receiving spam email, junk mail, and a load of telemarketers calling you. If you don't like those things, don't give Purity 12 one drop of your info.
I also searched online to see if there were many complaints on any of the complaint boards. My search was quite fruitful. There were a number of complaints, most of which regarding "unauthorized" credit card charges and the difficulty in getting the company to cancel the autoship. Not getting refunds was also a commonly found complaint.
To wrap it up, Purity 12 is not worth your time, money, or hassle. I like that they provide a list of their ingredients (something that other's fail to do), but the ingredient profile doesn't instill much confidence in it's ability to really cleanse the colon. They use shady marketing and business practices that have earned them an F rating with the BBB. A rating, which, as far as I can tell, they deserve.
